Ceramic Band Heater: Benefits of its use
Overview
Ceramic band heater are medium-to-high temperature heaters capable of delivering up to 1200°F. The nickel-chrome heating cores of these robust heaters are embedded inside interlocking ceramic tiles assembled like a brick wall. A ceramic fiber insulating mat and a stainless-steel jacket cover this assembly. This makes them flexible, highly energy-efficient. It prevents heat loss and reduces electrical consumption. The heat of the Ceramic Band originates from the internal coils that conduct heat at maximum temperatures. Heated coils deliver heat uniformly through ceramic tiles which radiate energy to the barrel.
Heat is transferred from ceramic band heaters to the surface of an application through conduction&radiation. This is why a firm grip on the cylinder is not as important as in other heaters. Moreover, over-tightening should be avoided, since the pressure on the insulation mat reduces its insulating efficiency.
Its Advantages
- Lower Operating Cost: Because of superior insulation, less heat escapes to the air&less wattage is required to maintain barrel temperature. Also, the heater is safer since its exterior is colder.
- Longer Heater Life: all materials used are certified to operate at extremely high temperatures.
- High operating temperature, rapid heating, high heat efficiency, friendly environment, even&accurate heating, can set up an automatic control system.
- Since they run at higher watt densities, they can be used in wider increments
- It saves energy&heat, extremely versatile, provides uniform heat distribution, and available in various termination styles.
- The number of bands used can be reduced with simpler wiring.
- Easy installation&removal, low application cost, even though the internal hot content is destroyed, external ceramic components can be recycled.
